Entertainment

MAIN STAGE - Master’s Garden

The centrepiece of the ball will take you on a tour through gorgeous grooves guaranteed to warm the heart. Live bands will range from high energy rhythms to soulful sounds before we come together for a transcendent headliner. Some of the most talented international DJs around will take over to provide you with good vibes and positivity so leave your inhibitions at the door and swing till sunrise.

SECOND STAGE - Fellows' Garden

Satisfy your dancing desire from the sounds of South America to the energy of Africa with funk, disco and pop classics in between. A diverse array of genres selected with the sole intention of getting your feet moving and hips swaying. Not to be missed.

THIRD STAGE - Chapel Court

Prepare to be intrigued, awed and torn apart with laughter at a stage overflowing with alternative entertainment and unique live bands before ending the night with a Silent Disco.

FOURTH STAGE - Tennis Court Garden

Serenity’s the word in this area of harmonious relaxation as acoustic, jazz, and all else peaceful will transfix your attention with mellow tones. Find your favourite artists you haven’t yet heard from our pool of precocious talent.

Come and participate in one of the most vibrant and innovative May Balls that Cambridge has to offer!

The committee of Sidney Sussex May Ball 2016 are holding auditions for acts to perform at the ball, both musical and non-musical. Auditions will take place in Sidney Bar on the 16th and 17th of January and we’d love to see you there.

No prior experience of may ball performance is necessary, so if you fancy coming to the ball for free, why not apply? We look forward to meeting you!

Dining Menu

Experience food and drink out of this world at this year's May Ball. Designed specifically to complement the ball, enjoy the wide range of flavours that will be on offer whilst indulging yourself in the night's events - all set within the majestic grounds of Sidney Sussex College. A variety of options are available to cater for all needs, including nut and gluten free, and vegetarian options.

A lavish 3 course meal awaits those who select the Dining upgrade. Hosted inside the Grand Hall, with complementary champagne reception and an early glimpse at what awaits for the night, it is not to be missed!

We are excited to announce that the applications to work at the Sidney Sussex May Ball 2016 are now open!

Working at the Ball is a great chance to gain invaluable experience, be part of and contribute to creating a truly special, large-scale event, at the same time boosting your holidays budget. Apart from competitive pay we will reward you with a great atmosphere of work - Sidney May Ball Committee aims to deliver an enjoyable experience not just for guests but also for all involved, especially our workers.

We are looking for a range of motivated individuals for a variety of roles, from area managers to stewards, from attraction assistants to general workers. No prior experience is required but will obviously help your application, particularly if you apply for managerial positions like area manager, bar manager etc.

Please note that we do not offer half-on / half-off option. The Sidney Sussex May Ball 2016 will only be paying workers to work for the whole duration of the Ball.
